What to Wear on a Last Minute Get Away.

Hi all! I hope you are having a wonderful week. I can't believe it is Wednesday already. This week has been crazy busy for me already getting back into the routine of work and such. I am definitely running behind and will be using the weekend to get myself organized.

This past week was my April School vacation, break is definitely one of the best perks about teaching. I truly LOVE my students but we all need a break every once in a while. Actually, I love my students so much I took a day during my vacation to visit my old school. It was great. If you ever need someone to boost your ego than elementary school students are your go-to. They have the ability to make you feel like a celebrity and wonder why you wore that shirt to school all in the same 10 second conversation. They are the true definition of #nofilter, but more about that at another time.

In addition, to visiting former students I spent an overnight in Newport. My boyfriend actually surprised me with this little get away and encouraged me to take advantage of the warm weather for a "photo shoot opportunity." Now because this was a last minute getaway I didn't have a lot of time to pack.

I knew I wanted to channel spring vibes so I immediately grabbed my white pants. Then because I knew Newport is directly on the water I thought in layers. I also stuck with neutrals because they are easiest to match and require little changes to create new outfits.

For the trip up I wore my white pants, cute basic black tank and long sweater. I LOVE to be comfortable for car rides so I think comfort first, then style. I knew these pants would be perfect for the next day so this meant I only needed to pack a new top and other necessities.

I love anything white on white, so I grabbed one of my favorite striped tops and a J.Crew pull over sweater. I also could not leave home without my favorite go-to flats from Pearls & Plaid. Plus, I threw a pair of converse and Patagonia fleece in my Nordstrom tote for the cliff walk. That's why that tote is one of my essentials. It holds all my essentials. I also brought my cross body black Juicy bag (not my usual shopping place but it has such a classic look to it) for walking around downtown. For my hair, I wanted to keep it simple and found it as a great excuse to try the new top knot. It's not exactly how I wanted it, but I'm working on it.

During April, the cliff walk celebrates a week long during the daffodil festival. There's nothing better then a view of the gorgeous ocean waters, classical mansions and mounds of daffodils' that line the walk way. I definitely recommend this experience!

  1. Love this outfit! I love how stylish it is while being comfortable at the same time! Those are rare for me as when I like an outfit, I realize much later on in the day how uncomfy it is. Haha. That was very sweet of your boyfriend to surprise you with a trip like that! The place is absolutely beautiful. Great post!
