Fall Capsule Wardrobe with Ann Taylor

Shopping on a budget this year? Girl, aren't we all!!

Building a capsule wardrobe is a great way to make your money go further. I've talked about them before and while there are some certain formulas to make one, I've found a few tips and tricks that work for me. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in, because today I'm spilling all the tea on how to build the perfect fall capsule wardrobe with Ann Taylor

Also, use code LAUREN15 for $15 off a purchase of $75 or more.

I find that picking a color scheme is the number one rule for building a capsule wardrobe. You can have the exact formula of pieces, 5 shirts, 4 bottoms, etc. but if none of them match then you're still in the same predicament of having nothing to wear.

With school back in session I wanted to base this capsule wardrobe around work. Ideally the capsule will be made up of items form Ann Taylor that will take me from day to night. I find that the best way to make my outfits go further is to invest in quality tops that mix and match with different bottoms to create a totally different vibe.

A statement blouse is ALWAYS a must in my book.

I adore this satin top, it's the PERFECT hue of blue. It is bold enough to break all the traditional fashion rules of "not mixing blue & black, and mixing brown & blue." 2020 has been a year already, so why not try embracing new style challenges, like saying goodbye to fashion rules and embracing what brings you joy and makes you feel awesome!

I love this top paired black jeans and black pumps for a really chic and professional look for work.

Honestly, I'm so torn between these looks, I adore the puff sleeve paired with a fun pair of denim. But at the same time, I am always a fan of any look with white jeans and knee high boots.

And of course, I couldn't let this top go styled without a quintessential look for work! Dress pants are a must have for the working gal, but that doesn't mean they have to be BORING. These pants are SO flattering and on trend, I love the subtle brown print and the button detailing on the side.

As soon as I saw this skirt online, I knew I had to have it! It's SO universally flattering! I love the highwaist line and the layered ruffles create a really elevated look to the basic midi skirt silhouette. To off set the glamorous feel of the skirt, I paired it with a light weight turtleneck and nude pumps for a work ready look.

Like I said before, the trick to making a capsule wardrobe work for you is finding pieces that you feel amazing in! Every time I put this blue satin top on, I feel great, which in turn boosts my mood. Plus, I love that I can mix and match basics in my closet to create the perfect date night look. Or, in fact, this is a look I would totally rock for one of my friends rehearsal dinner's/baby shower's etc.

Another tip I have is to embrace prints! Don't be afraid to build a capsule wardrobe that includes prints. Once you have your foundational colors, find prints that also work within that color palatte.

I love this all white look for fall. Make it seasonally appropriate by pairing your white denim with knee high boots and a fall print.

This is the ultimate teacher work wear. I feel like teachers are known for fun prints, especially with a good top.

Burnt orange and rust are MUST have colors for fall. They always remind me of fall and get me in the spirit.
