How to wear a jean jacket during the Winter

Since starting my blog I have learned something new everyday. My most recent lesson was on widgets, the scrolling shopping link found at the bottom of today's page.  I am so excited about this feature since it displays an image of the item and links you directly to the store I purchased it from. Be sure to check it out and let me know what you think in the comments section.

Today I am going to answer the question, I myself have often wondered, how do I wear my jean jacket during winter? I currently have two jeans jackets and have my eye on a dark rinse one at Banana Republic (I know, not my usual store but it sang to my heart as soon as I saw it styled on Maureen from TheNortheastGirl.)
I think you probably have been able to guess I love my jean jackets. I believe they are a great investment and are so versatile! They are usually the missing piece of any outfit. My secret for wearing them in winter is to think layers.

Since winter is usually cold, I paired my jean jacket with this Loft sweater dress and scarf. I added the scarf because I can wear it as is, or wrap it around my neck for added warmth. Oh! And underneath my sweater dress, the long layering tank, mentioned here and here.

I also paired the sweater dress with my repeat leggings from Madewell (disclaimer: I own three pairs). For extra warmth I wore knee high boots (similar pair) and J.Crew Factory camp socks.  If you don't already own these socks, you need too! They are seriously the best things for keeping you warm in the winter and they are super comfortable. Treat yourself, your feet will thank you.

Lastly, I added a statement necklace from J. Crew and a Tory bag (Similar bag) to give the outfit a more polished look for the work atmosphere.

I recently got asked: "What are your tips for my no shop February and March?"
I usually make a wish list, no limitations, of things I see and want to buy during this time. Then, as the weeks go by I think about how many outfits I can realistically make with this item and is it practical for me to purchase? Finally, at the end of Lent in April I consolidate my extremely long wish list and buy a few key pieces to add to my Spring Wardrobe. (Tips on how to choose which pieces you need versus which pieces you want in an upcoming post!)

Thanks for checking in!

  1. Love the outfit! I have trouble finding an ideal jean jacket because of the length - especially of the sleeves. I know in your bio you said you were tall, and this jean jacket looks great on you, but I have a few more inches (6'1)! I'm also a huge fan of the Tory bag -- I usually think of Tory Burch for shoes, but I should check out the bags!

    1. Meredith, thanks so much from your comment! The struggle (especially sleeve length is real!) I am wearing a Tommy Hilfiger one
      ( try this: http://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=508585030&pid=uid4400-32947620-57)
Or if you know your exact sleeve length J.Crew lists those kinds of details on their products (http://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=469610065&pid=uid4400-32947620-57)
Let me know if you ever end up finding one! And I definitely recommend Tory for bags, as well as shoes! I'm obsessed!! Thanks again for checking my blog. XO

  3. For a great many people unreasonably vast shoulder braces, for example those that stretch out past the regular shoulder line makes an unbalanced look. Carton clothing
