The best floral dress for $25 and more stripes!

I think it's safe to say I have a HUGE thing for stripes right now and pattern mixing. If you follow me on Instagram then you saw how I have been playing around with various patterns in my closest.

This dress was a steal! Originally it was $80 but with all the Loft sales it was only $25. I couldn't resist getting it because it's the perfect transitioning dress from winter into spring.  And of course, it is still freezing here in Connecticut so it was time to pull out the blue coat. Lastly, to add a little sparkle I pulled out my holiday bag from Kate Spade.

ALSO, have you seen New Girl??? We just started watching it. Two episodes in and we are already obsessed! I know we are late to this trend but seriously, have you seen it?!

As always, thanks for checking in!

The best layers for staying warm this winter

Hey Lovely Readers! Did you survive the snow storm?! I must say I enjoyed having an excuse to stay inside and catch up on some TV series. The TV shows in my current rotation are Grey's, Gilmore Girls and the Bachelor. Hart of Dixie was in my rotation until recently when my boyfriend and I finished it during storm Jonas. As a result, we are now experiencing a loss in our weekly rotation. What TV shows have your attention right now? Leave a suggested TV series for us in the comment section!!

As for today's outfit of the day I was all about the layers! In order to stay warm I pile on the layers. This is great for when you will be spending time indoors, as well as, outdoors. Layers help me easily keep up with the change in temperature.

My scarf is new and a total splurge for me! I had been saving birthday and Christmas money for some new pieces to add and I am so excited to incorporate this one into my wardrobe. You will definitely be seeing a lot more of it!

My layering basics are both from Nordstrom and combined were under $30! Click here for shirt 1 and shirt 2. My leggings are from Madewell and a great price! Lastly, my adorable hat is from Grace! This was also a steal, only costing $10!

And let's not forget my obsession with Hunter boots! These grey ones are a definite must have.

Thanks for checking my post! And don't forget to post what your favorite TV shows are currently!
XO, Lauren

The Hidden Gems of Fashion at Target

Let me start off this post by saying it has been a long time coming! I have a serious obsession with Target, actually even that is an understatement. I LOVE target and frequent the store often. I actually spend a lot of time and energy attempting to find these amazing deals and things I have seen on the web from pinterest and/or instagram. If you haven't already check out the hashtag #targetdollarspot or #targetdoesitagain and prepared to be blown away by all the wonderful secrets hiding at Target!

For Starters you all remember my obsession with bows, right?! Well I LOVE to purchase my hair accessories from the kid section of the dollar spot or the kid section in general. The perk- they are smaller sizes so are simpler and therefore create more of an understated look. ALSO they are ALWAYS under $10. Which is just what I need because I loose all my hair accessories. For example, y'all remember this gold bow I've styled here. This was a target steal 2 for $1. How could you not get them?

Another steal from the dollar section was this adorable travel mug? How perfect is it?!

Lastly, have you tried these tights yet? If there is one thing  you purchase from today's post these should be it! They are the best! They come in a wide variety of colors and are under $10!!! See how I stayed my purple pair here. They are so comfortable and a great thickness. They have survived the snags of trying to get in and out of Kindergarten chairs and the pull of rain or riding boots. They are perfect for any working gal. I recommended them to my bestie, who is currently working on Med School recommendations and she loves them! She actually helped convince me to write this post about the deals and steals of Target!

I hope you enjoyed today's post. There will be many more to follow as my obsession with Target continues. Please comment below and share what your must-have's from Target are!

I kind of have a thing for anything roses

Nothing makes me happier then finding a tunic that actually works for my height! I got this shirt from Nordstrom Rack and it was under $25! I wear this shirt all the time; as a go-to for running errands on the weekend or grabbing a cup coffee with friends. This sweater from Urban Outfitters (I've been crushing on the light pink and grey) is great for adding length and warmth!

I wear headbands all the time. It's a great way to keep the hair out of my face when teaching. This one is from J.Crew and a great find seeing as I have a major thing for anything gold or sparkly as previously mentioned here!

In my job, I service every grade at my school and am always running around. My Marc Jacobs watch helps to make sure that I am always on time!
These boots are in desperate need of a polish! However, I still get compliments on them all the time. They are from Aldo and were under $100.

On Wednesday's We Wear Pink

I don't know about y'all but it is freezing this week! Luckily this jacket from J. Crew is super warm! For extra warmth I have paired it with fleece lined leggings from the Grace Boutique (I am a frequent visitor to this adorable store!) and boot socks! Mine were purchased in Maine but I have linked something similar and cheaper here.

The dress is from Madewell. I actually got in on clearance and my exact one is sold out but I have linked similar options here and here. One great thing about Madewell is that they also offer a student/teacher discount in addition to their sale prices. Not many stores will do this! I find that this dress is busy enough that you don't need much of anything else to make your outfit complete. I really believe sometimes less is more.

For today's #armcandy I mixed and matched some pink and silver Alex and Ani's and of course pulled out a pair of earrings from my favorite Bauble Bar set!

Also, if you like what you see please remember to follow me on Instagram and share my blog with others! Thanks for all your support!

Things I am currently crushing on

I am currently crushing on these pretty studs right now. I believe no outfit is truly complete without some bling. Thank you Baublebar for once again continuing my obsession with jewelry.
I know these are not a new thing, but I have been trying forever to get one and they are sold out in my size!! None the less, this is on my wish list! One of the reasons I am drawn to this company is their mission. Ivory Ella works with the non-profit organization to Save the Elephants. What is better than cute clothes and a good cause?!

I am a HUGE fan of the Volcano candle found at Anthropologie or the local boutique Grace. I don't think I will ever get sick of this scent, but recently I have wanted to try the Roses candle made by Diptyque. Now this is WAY more than I would typically spend on a candle but this is a WISH list, I feel that it is fitting for my specific blog (eh..ROSES & Rain Boots) and lastly, it is a big accent piece in the blogging world. What are your thoughts on these candles? Have you tried either of them? Be sure to click on this post and let me know your thoughts!

Lastly, I am completely crushing on this gold and white travel mug from Kate Spade. I will be the first to admit I have an OBSESSION with gold and coffee so therefore I think it is a perfect fit!

What are you currently crushing on?

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Just as I was saying I could do without snow, we got our first snowfall of the year this weekend and of course I had to go outside and enjoy it! I forgot how much I do love snow...as long as I don't have to drive in it. There is a calming, peaceful, and beautiful presence when those first flakes begin to fall! And just for this post because it was the first official snowfall of the year I brought back the red hunter boots. I mean after all my blog name is Roses & Rain Boots so it is safe to assume that you will be seeing a lot of both of those!

If you haven't already gotten around to purchasing this scarf-do it! It goes with everything! It also has to be one of the most popular blanket scarves so there are tons of suggested outfits on pinterest and other fashion blogs to get you started too.

I'm also wearing Zella live-in leggings. These are a great buy. They are extra thick (which if you haven't discovered yet is a big deal for me). And if that hasn't sold you they are perfect for regular wear as well as working out. Even after a run they don't show any sweat marks. My rain jacket is from the Gap. I love the red on red combo. Lastly, my striped long sleeve shirt is from Loft, another staple in my wardrobe.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and got to enjoy some of the snow too! Thanks for checking in!!

Casual Friday... Yes, Please!

YES! It's the day we have all been waiting for. . . Friday! I swear Friday's are the best days! It is so rewarding to leave work on a Friday afternoon and know you have the whole weekend ahead of you. What's even better is a long weekend! I know we have just returned from winter break but I am so excited for an extra weekday off. I enjoy going out to lunch on days off since it is a luxury my boyfriend and I don't get to enjoy together often, unless it is on the weekend. What are your plans for the long weekend?

Today's #ootd or in other words "outfit of the day" is one of my favorite go too's! I love to try out new trends and this fall I was super excited to try out this hat. I got it from Old Navy, since I typically don't wear my trendy pieces all the time I like to find affordable pieces.
I am a huge fan of Hudson jeans because of their longer inseam and if nothing else, their symbol is the British Flag. I told y'all I have a thing for my English heritage!!

I have had this Tory bag for years and LOVE it. I have a serious girl crush on Tory Burch's shoes and bags.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Look for a new post Monday.

Leopard Print & Studded Shoes

Getting gift cards for any event are always exciting especially if they include shopping! I am not usually a shoe person but I was so excited to find these shoes. They are BCBG and have just the right height for a heel. They create an edgy yet polished look that are perfect for the office or a night out.

I am currently obsessed with red, polka dots and leopard prints. According to Jenna Lyons "As far as I'm concerned, Leopard is a neutral." Thanks to the college perpster for sharing that fact leopard is a neutralThis sweater from J.Crew is amazing. I plan to have it on repeat in the upcoming months. It is so comfortable and has the cutest little button accents on the shoulder.

 #armcandy

I got this cheetah print fold over clutch from Old Navy for under $20! It holds a lot of stuff without losing it's shape, which is difficult to find in a clutch.

I can't get enough of these shoes.

As always thanks for stopping by!

Here comes the rain and some Hunter Boots!

Before purchasing the infamous Hunter Boots I dreaded the rain. Now I actually look ahead to see when a chance of rain is in the forecast! I LOVE my Hunter Boots. I cannot say that enough. They are so comfortable and make the rain a little more enjoyable and fashionable.  I am currently having so much fun mixing these red ones with different items in my wardrobe. Today I paired them with this fun swing skirt from Old Navy. This skirt is great because it hits at the knee so it is perfect for work and was under $20!

I also added my camel pull over sweater from J.Crew to pick up the leaves in the skirt ( I love match-matchy outfits). This sweater is great! I own it in 6 colors and wear them all the time! It is great for layering and adding a polished look to any outfit. The only draw back is that it is dry-clean only!! I have accidentally put this one through the wash, but I don't recommend it. To the top the outfit off, I added a winter white J.Crew vest and boot socks. I suggest adding boot socks with your Hunter Boots for extra insulation when wearing them during the winter season. Hope you enjoy today's outfit of the day! I can't wait to hear what you think & thank you for your support in helping me build and develop my blog!

If you know me, then you know how much I LOVE coffee. It's pretty much a staple accessory in my daily routine.

The complete look!
