Affordable Valentine's Day Outfits, Gift Ideas, Date Night Tips and Suggestions

Let's talk about Valentine's Day Y'all. If you are anything like B and I than you probably agree that Valentine's Day is such a high-pressure, and an overrated holiday. I mean who doesn't feel this way? But honestly, I love it. Even when I was single, my dad always made Valentine's Day so so special for both my mom and I. Often times, I think Valentine's Day becomes this BIG deal when really it's about spending time with people you love and care about to celebrate love, laughter, and happiness.

This Sunday at Church they read our favorite bible verses:
Love is patient. Love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

I mean this verse says it all. Without love, you have nothing. So even if you are single and trust me, girl, I've definitely been there. Treat yourself, because you deserve it. I am a firm believer that to truly be happy, one must first love themselves.

Possible Date Night Ideas
The movies.
The UpSide has gotten such good reviews and seems like the cutest way to spend celebrating love with a feel-good movie. This movie is on my list to see. I've been waiting for a really good Rom-Com (romantic comedy) to be released, remember the days of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and  PS. I Love You I need more movies like that in my life.

Revisit the spot of your first date.
My friend Liz gave me this idea. She and her hubby are having a casual but romantic date on Valentine's Day as they revisit the spot of their first date. If that doesn't scream ROMANTIC, I'm not sure what does. Also, we both had a good laugh because even though we don't need gifts, any sort of flowers is appreciated. Boys Take note!

Flowers
Special Delivery! Whether it's sending flowers to her work or delivering them at home (I love the idea of having her wake up to flowers) is such a special treat. My favorite local florist is Ashleigh's Garden, Y'all know I have a major girl crush on the owner. She saved me during wedding planning and made all my dreams come true.

Another florist I'm interested in exploring is Farm Girl Flowers. This company is an excellent option for flower delivery. They come wrapped in burlap, which is just the cutest touch. These flowers show that you care about the thought that goes into the floral delivery. We have a few "chain" florists in the area that deliver, but they really are no match in quality and uniqueness for smaller more authentic florists.

Another alternative is The Sill. Y'all would have seen me unboxing one of their arrangements on my Instagram as I received a beautiful succulent arrangement for my birthday from a dear friend. This was such a unique way to receive a house plant. I'm still loving (and trying to keep) my succulents alive through this cold!

Gifts. Gifts aren't even the right word. Consider it more of a small gesture.
Candles
I love a good candle. I believe having a candle burning makes our home feel even cozier and it helps to keep it smelling nice! I also think candles are a great stress reliever. Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed or need extra motivation, I light a candle.

Jewelry.
Obviously, this is such a staple. But, seriously, you can't go wrong with a beautiful piece of Jewelry. One of my all-time favorite pieces is a gold bar necklace that B gifted to me on our honeymoon. He knew I would be missing the business and excitement of the wedding, so he had our wedding date and coordinates of the church but on a gold bar necklace. This gift showed so much thought.

Perfume.
I have been searching an everyday scent, but it's exhausting. It's a lot of trial and error because ultimately I want the scent to last all day. Also, I look to see if I receive any compliments during the first couple of days wearing it. Perfume is also one of those things that is ridiculously expensive but makes for a really great personal gift.

Books
The 5 Love Languages.
B and I both read this book prior to getting married and love it. It was actually the book my sister-in-law and her husband read in their pre-marital classes and recommend it to us. If you are married, about to get married, in a serious relationship, going through a divorce, or single, you NEED to read this book. Not only did it teach me a lot about B and what he needs. This book taught me a lot about myself and what I need.

Date Night In.
This cookbook was a gift that I received at my bridal shower. If you've been following me for a while, then you know I'm not much of a cook. However; using this cookbook as an incentive, B and I plan special nights in to cook together and enjoy each other's company. We also love to play games, so we usually end the night with that.

Questions.
This was also another idea from a friend (thanks Leigh!) This is a fun way to establish a nightly routine that values quality time with your significant other. B and I enjoy answering these questions and are excited to start year 2 and to be able to look back at our responses to see how we've grown. However; confession time, B and I go through spurts where we are really busy, for example traveling for work. When these busy times occur, we are terrible at being consistent in maintaining our nightly routine and taking the time to record in our journal. Being more consistent with our question journal is something I hope we can strive for this year.

Our Bucket List.
Over the past year and a half, B and I have successfully checked a few things off our bucket list, like getting married, going on a honeymoon, and going to Nashville with friends, to name a few. This book seems like such a great way to log these events and moments. I think I might pick this up for B as a little Valentine's Day gift, I mean gesture.
