Style Inspiration & Red Pants

I'm super excited about this outfit because I was completely inspired by a lovely lady at Church this past Sunday. She is always dressed in such chic and polished outfits plus, her hair is perfect, oh and did I mention she has two little kids! I seriously hope when I have a family I can get them all put together, let alone myself.

The purpose of today's post is to show you how I am constantly inspired by people around me and how I adapt their looks to fit my own style using items I already own. In school we teach our students not to be offended when someone copies you, instead take it as a compliment. Because seriously though as a teacher you hear "So and so is copying me" at least 10 times a day, sorry tangent.  And as a result I use that same mantra with outfits. If I see something I like heck yes I am going to save it as outfit inspiration! That's what blogs, pinterest and instagram are for. As a blogger my hope is that you will LOVE what you see so much that you want to copy it yourself.

For starters I loved that my style inspiration paired a chambary shirt with a white sweater and my favorite scarf. Although, I wear this scarf all the time I never would have thought of this combo. Then, to make the outfit a little more "me" I added the polka-dots and leopard clutch to get some pattern mixing involved. I find that I am always drawn to outfits that incorporate pattern mixing so I have been forcing myself to try it more. I also new the white polka dots were an easy place to start and have adopted the philosophy I have previously shared with y'all that "leopard is a neutral."

I also LOVE red pants. I found this pair way back during my freshman year of college and they were well worth it. If you don't already own a pair I highly recommend that you get some. They are such a staple and actually a classic. No matter the year, red pants always make an appearance. If you don't have a pair, I know what you are thinking, "I can't pull them off" and you are wrong. I am here to tell you that you can pull them off and you should.  A few years back my aunt, mom and I were shopping one year at Wrenthum the most amazing outlets (ps ladies let's definitely go back this spring) and we saw these great red capris in a fitted, but relaxed, work appropriate material and we knew instantly she had to have them! That's what's awesome about the topic "red pants" because there are so many different varieties, style and even shades of red there's a perfect match for everyone. I am seriously eyeing the red ones I have shared in the widget below (use the arrows to see them) from Anthro. Lent is finally over so I can actually pick up a few essential pieces I have been eyeing.
Everyday I am inspired by people around me. It helps me keep my fashion fresh. Although in my mind it may appear I am "copying" someone's post the outfit I end up creating is completely my own. We all have our own unique sense of style and wear things differently. Just like I said yesterday although my mom and I have the same sweater we pair it with completely different outfits that fit our own style personality. What do you use as your style inspiration? Have you copied someone's outfit before?  I can't wait to hear from you! xx, Lauren
