affordable fall home decor 2021

If you've been in the Roses and Rain Boots community for a while now, then you know how much I LOVE updating our home seasonally with fall home decor. I enjoy updating our home based on the different seasons and incorporating other fabrics, decor, and hues accordingly.

It's no secret fall is a favorite! I love the cozy and inviting feeling of fall. It always makes it feel like home. There are so many fun things to do during the fall (Check out this blog post here for my Fall New England travel guide), and I like our home to reflect that.

While decorating for each season can seem daunting or expensive, it doesn't have to be. Today I'm sharing my tips for decorating your home without breaking the bank and my favorite fall items this season.

Tip 1
Opt for neutrals. Buying in neutrals allows for more product versatility, meaning, if you buy some neutral pillows for the living room and want to switch it up next year, the pillows can go in a different spot. One of the biggest changes I've slowly started to transition to is investing in better-quality solid pillows and just the covers. This is such a space saver and doesn't make me feel as overwhelmed and that I have excess things in our holiday storage.

Tip 2
Splurge on classic vases and opt for purchasing fillers. This year, I found a cute neutral wood vase filler (linked here) and used it to fill our coffee table bowl that we have out year-round. Again, I found I was often purchasing multiple vases and changing out the fillers often. While I was finding some pieces to be affordable, I was buying more, and as a result, spending more and often it wasn't something I truly loved. Once I started to be more selective I was able to purchase fillers that really went with our aesthetic and reusing vases that I already had (also, a space saver!)

Tip 3
Candles make everything better. There are so many fall candles; I love to add a few around our home to make the space "smell" like fall if fall had a scent. I think if you've ever  received a gift from me, you probably received a candle at some point. I often give candles as gifts because I love them! I look forward to setting the mood for dinner or getting work done with a candle. As a result, I often switch out our candles to match the current season and mood.
